It’s me! I’ve had a passion for the telephone network since 1993 when my dad first brought home an acoustic coupler modem from his work and “online” services consisted of a small number of amateur dial-up bulletin board systems. I am super excited that my life has worked out in such a way that I now get to run services which many of us rely on.

Through my career in telecommunications, I developed some of the UK’s first services to deliver ringtones and logos over the air, designed many automation programs to integrate with MNO infrastructure and have extensive experience in the aggregator space.

After working for an AIM-listed mobile technology business, I branched out to work on my own small projects which have progressed into the 3G Telecommunications Group who manage HLRLookup.com.

I now direct the company to develop commercial platforms in the mobile space and to research viable products to progress the technology available in this area. As the owner and leader of the company my focus is on team management, the research and design of efficient processes and helping develop new technologies into minimal viable products.

Iain initially started his career in the leisure industry where he quickly progressed to manager positions across the UK. Having excelled in a variety of roles in the sector, Iain’s in-depth knowledge of management systems and compliance legislation fast-tracked his position to Operations Manager.

Leaving the leisure industry, Iain continued to combine his system management skills and his love of business development working for a large professional services company where he helped to develop and grow new software products. After two successful acquisitions, Iain left to join HLR Lookup in 2010.

At HLR Lookup, Iain is the senior executive who overseas the daily operational functions and executes the company strategy.

James originally comes from a physics background having completed a BSc in Physics before transitioning to Computer Science at MSc level. On graduation he went to work as a Software Engineer for a company specialising in 3D model processing, where he contributed to projects for clients such as Rolls Royce and Airbus and was involved in an international research project focused on combining 3D printing and robotics technologies in extreme environments.

James left this position to start a PhD in Computer Science, whilst simultaneously working part-time at HLR Lookup. He has since transitioned to working full-time with us and has been instrumental in the development of several of our systems including our supplier routing service, auto topup application and analytical data reporting.

Steven has an extensive analytical background in research and development. He previously worked with the UK Government’s Food and Environment Research Agency on multiple projects and has leveraged this expertise to assist in building out and validating the research for HLR Lookup.

You may find you interact with him via our customer support team where he closely monitors tickets to detect common problems, or on our MNO supply side where he liaises with mobile network operators to bring new access to routes .

Catalin began his career maintaining strategic operational software before commencing a BSc in Computer Science at the University of Huddersfield.

Whilst at university, Catalin expanded his programming and R&D experience by prototyping and developing data analysis and reporting tools for a specialist law firm providing business intelligence software. On completion of his BSc, Catalin moved to a web development company where he worked on the development and maintenance of bespoke platforms providing website services to UK clients.

After securing a position with HLR Lookup in 2020, Catalin now works mostly on customer-facing interaction for our web services and supports the HLR Lookup R&D process by assisting with code writing and directional input for the team.

Rowan has extensive experience in computing, with a BSc and MSc in Computer Science, a certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) from BCS (the Chartered Institute for IT) and has been accepted as a senior member of the Association for Computer Machinery.

Rowan assists with the development of infrastructure to be used for HLR Lookup research and services.

Dexter provides customer support in the Asia Pacific timezone and monitors the HLR routing services. Dexter has a TESDA Computer Hardware Servicing NCII and a BSc in Computer Science.

Rich has a broad background working between the film, telecommunications and courier industries.
